Dr. Charles Drew
(1904-1950)
Medical Pioneer

Dr. Drew established the American Red Cross blood bank, of which he was the first director,
and he organized the world's first blood bank drive

In Biomedical Services — as with other Red Cross services — it's all about helping others, one person at a time. Having provided comfort and aid to those in need since 1881, the Red Cross quickly adopted Biomedical Services as a fundamental part of its humanitarian mission. As the nation's largest supplier of blood, plasma and tissue products, the Red Cross saves and enhances thousands of lives every day.

Schedules of upcoming Portage County blood drives can be found by clicking here.

Blood saves lives – and it is always needed.
